After the diaphragm, the tongue is an important point. Most tongues are almost always tense. You can feel that when kissing… If, on the other hand, we kiss with a wide, soft tongue, the happiness drugs begin to flow…
The tongue is a barometer of tension in the body, when it’s tense, so is the whole body. We let our tongues relax – and every two or three minutes we think about relaxing it, because we will unconsciously contract it again and again.
When our tongue is relaxed, so is our jaw, the center behind our eyes, and the whole head.
Anything you can do with your tongue is part of yoga. So you can always say, “I’m practicing Yoga”…
Letting go of the tongue has the following effects:
• The tongue is energetically connected to the perineum; when you relax your tongue, you will feel your pelvic floor relax
• When the tongue relaxes, the palate softens… the palate is the passage of mind energy to the rest of the body, when blocked your head remains heavy.
• The tongue is connected to the eyes, you relax the tongue and the eyeballs also relax. It is very important for the brain that the eyes relax, because then it can also relax – as if you had kissed for two hours…
• The pineal gland is activated and produces various substances – such as Pineline, Melatonin, DMT, – all of which have an extremely relaxing and slightly hallucinogenic effect. So we always have our own little drug lab with us…
A French psychiatrist – Monsieur Phillipe Pinel – was the first to study the pineal gland in depth in the 18th century. As a tribute to M. Pinel, we relax our tongues.
So how can we effectively relax our tongue?
Quite simply: we imagine that we are a tiger taking his siesta on a branch in the midday heat. His limbs and his long tongue hang down totally relaxed…. and our tongue is completely loose…!
When these substances flow, it increases our body’s sensitivity. Then you can perceive the position of the body in space much better, the muscles relax and you no longer need any strength at all. This is one of the ideas of Kashmiri Yoga – no effort, no control, no resistance to space (and the flow of life). All effort is replaced by consciousness.
The pelvic floor, diaphragm and palate are the three medusae in our body that we set in motion with the energy of our our breath.
